Today is Sunday - rest day. But we did not rest! We left early in the morning and headed up the mountains to hike to see the Neer Waterfall. It was a good hard climb with several waterfalls to see along the way. This is the water that runs into the sacred Ganga river. The view along the way was breathtaking and the photos just don’t do it justice. We ended up at this little getaway place that felt like it was the top of the world. It was good that we started early as there was no one around, but as we were leaving there were people everywhere in the lower waterfalls. This evening we all went out wandering the streets of Rishikesh, did a little shopping, and found a great little place for dinner.
It will back to study tomorrow. We get up at 5am and start our first class of the day at 5:45am. Last class finishes at 7pm followed by dinner. The classes are so interesting, I have only done two full days so far and have already learnt so much. I have also discovered muscles that have not been used and that I forgot I had. The knowledge of our teachers is deep. They are immersed in this life and it shows. I am so excited for everything I am yet to learn.
I did a lot of research before booking this course, and I feel that it has paid off. When so much effort goes into a decision like this, there is always that worry that what you find at the other side might not be what you were hoping for. The only nerves I had coming on this trip was that I may be disappointed because I expected too much. But that is not the case, quite the opposite. I am so lucky to be here within this small group of students, we are nine in total. And although it has only been several days, our group has already bonded. So much laughter and discussion and genuine care for each other. So much to look forward to.
