Postcard from India - I’m here!

Amanda Gammon

For all those who asked me to blog this journey, here goes.

So the whole trip from home to here took 33 hours. Landed in Delhi this morning and so did a ton of other people. Two and a half hours just to get through customs. Luckily there were a few people annoyed enough to put on a show 😂

Then the car ride from Delhi to Rishikesh. Had a sweet driver but his gps wasn’t working so I got to help navigate getting out of Delhi using Google maps. Driving in India is a work of art, I am confused as to why they bother to paint white lines on the road and the stop signs appear to be decorations. Funny enough though, I never felt unsafe.

I am so glad I decided to do this leg of the trip by car rather than plane. There was a lot

to take in. The people. Mostly appear calm and relaxed, there is a certain patience with everything. The countryside. Fertile and lush. The homes. Everything from the makeshift tents on the side of the road to the large beautifully unique country homes, and everything inbetween. And the animals are just as calm too. Dogs. Cats. Cows. Goats.

I have met one of the teachers whom I chatted with over a late lunch. First lesson: watch out for the monkeys with the red faces, they’ll grab what you are holding and bite you if you don’t let them end result doctor and tetanus shot. Great, not so calm, but creepy monkeys 🙊 And I have met a student that just finished the January training and has decided to stay another month!

So now I am in my room at the yoga school, waiting for the hot water to heat up. What I really need now is a shower and a decent sleep. I have no real idea what tomorrow holds.

Love and laughter always

Amanda 💛
